Week 7 Wrap Up

2018-10-09

A Week of Upsets

Friday solidified the age old fact, any team can lose on any day. Clarkston (6-1) received their 1st loss of the season at the hands of Oxford 20-17. Clarkston’s offense was pretty stagnant considering all points were generated through special teams. With this loss, Oak Park moves forward as the only undefeated team of the OAA at (7-0) after their victory this week over Rochester 41-33, clinching the OAA White division. Dwan Mathis connected with Maliq Carr for 3 TDs.

Catholic Central was upset by St. Mary’s 31-29, which was a definite surprise following the big loss St. Mary’s had vs DeLaSalle. St. Mary’s looks to have possibly turned the corner on their season, but we will find out more this week. Catholic Central doesn’t have any time to morn the surprising defeat, they have a 6-1 DeLaSalle team coming in and clicking on all facets of the game. DeLaSalle QB Nolan Schultz threw 4 TD passes in their victory this week over Davidson 35-7. Josh DeBerry is a very explosive player, and has been putting up great numbers all season. He finished with over 100 yards and a touchdown.

West Bloomfield (5-2) was upset by Southfield A&T 37-35 with a safety being the difference maker of this score. Southfield QB Anthony Romphf, former backup QB last season at West Bloomfield came out on fire this game, and never really cooled off. He threw for 260 yards and 4 TDs, with multiple of those being #Dimes. MSU Commit Tre Mosley was very effective for West Bloomfield when he was targeted, racking up alot of yards and a touchdown. Donovan Edwards was injured towards the end of this game, we prey for a speedy recovery for the electrifying Sophomore Running back, who has been extremely productive for West Bloomfield this season.

The PSL had games this week with playoff implications, which have now been decided. Detroit MLK got a 27-18 victory over Denby, clinching their conference as Cass Tech defeats Mumford 41-7. The season looks to be producing the city championship matchup expected when the season began, but again “Any team can win on any day”.
